Birthing Kits - Providing a Safer Birth
Semi-annually, Zontians and their friends and family volunteer to help women and children in developing nations by assembling sterile birthing kits that reduce the incidents of infection and mortality in mothers and their newborn babies. Each kit contains a three foot piece of poly, folded in a resealable bag, along with a pair of disposable gloves, 5 squares of gauze, 1 razor blade, 1 small piece of soap and 3 pieces of cord. Our most recent assembly in October 2023 where we completed 1000 kits, brought our total to 26,000+. The kits are delivered to World Vision and then distributed around the world where most needed. If you are interested in volunteering, assemblies occur every spring and fall.
